BBQ Chicken Ingredients

Method

BBQ Chicken Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Rinse the whole chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. This step ensures that the skin becomes crispy when cooked.

  2. 2

    Season the Chicken

In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin and inside the cavity for maximum flavor.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375°F or 190°C). If using charcoal, prepare a two-zone fire with coals on one side and nothing on the other.

  4. 4

    Grill the Chicken

Place the chicken on the grill, breast side down, on the cooler side of the grill. Close the lid and cook for about 30-40 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

  5. 5

    Add BBQ Sauce

During the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, brush the chicken generously with BBQ sauce, turning it to coat all sides. This will create a delicious glaze on the chicken.

  6. 6

    Rest and Serve

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist chicken. Serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
