Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the hanger steak with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Grill the Steak

Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned hanger steak and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until the desired doneness is achieved. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Garlic Herb Aioli Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix the Aioli

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic cloves, chopped parsley, chopped basil, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are blended. Adjust salt to taste.

Roasted Tomatoes Preparation

  1. 4

    Roast the Tomatoes

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a baking dish, toss the cherry tomatoes with olive oil and salt. Roast for 15-20 minutes until they are blistered and soft.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 5

    Toast the Bread

Lightly toast the sourdough bread slices until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

Spread a generous amount of garlic herb aioli on one side of each slice of toasted sourdough. Layer with arugula, grilled hanger steak (sliced), roasted tomatoes, and a drizzle of chimichurri sauce. Top with another slice of bread, aioli side down.

  3. 7

    Serve

Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately with extra chimichurri on the side, if desired.
