Preparation

Cooking the Base

1. Brown the Ground Beef

In a large skillet or pot, over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.

2. Sauté Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Adding Spices and Liquids

3. Mix in Spices

Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

4. Add Tomato Sauce and Broth

Pour in the tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir to combine all ingredients, ensuring everything is well mixed.

Simmering

5. Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens.

Serving

6. Garnish and Serve

Once cooked, remove from heat. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and a dollop of sour cream on top.
