Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4-6 cups of water to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Add Salt

Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt.

  3. 3

    Cook Linguine

Add 8 oz of linguine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  4. 4

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making Alfredo Sauce

  1. 5

    Melt Butter

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter.

  2. 6

    Add Garlic

Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Add Heavy Cream

Pour in 2 cups of heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  4. 8

    Incorporate Parmesan Cheese

Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.

  5. 9

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 tsp of black pepper and 1 tsp of grated nutmeg, stirring to incorporate.

Combining and Serving

  1. 10

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained linguine to the Alfredo sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
