Burger Patty

Cheese and Bun

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

Divide the ground beef into four equal portions (4 oz each). Gently form each portion into a ball without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Season the Patties

Sprinkle each ball with salt and black pepper on all sides.

Cook the Burger

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Sear the Burgers

Place the beef balls on the hot grill or skillet. Using a spatula, smash each ball down into a patty about 1/2 inch thick. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Toast the Buns

  1. 6

    Butter the Buns

Spread butter on the cut sides of each brioche bun.

  2. 7

    Toast the Buns

Place the buns, buttered side down, on the grill or skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 8

    Build the Burger

Place each cheesy burger patty on the bottom half of a toasted brioche bun. Top with the other half of the bun.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the kid's cheese smash burgers warm with optional sides like fries or veggies.
