Method
Preparation
- 1
Season the Steak
Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps them cook evenly.
- 2
Apply Salt and Pepper
Generously season both sides of the ribeye steaks with salt and black pepper.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.
- 4
Sear the Steak
Add the ribeye steaks to the pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on the first side without moving them, until a brown crust forms.
- 5
Flip and Add Aromatics
Flip the steaks over and add the garlic cloves, fresh rosemary, and butter to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, spooning the melted butter over the steaks.
Resting
- 6
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the pan and place them on a cutting board. Tent with foil and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
Serving
- 7
Serve
Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
