Dry Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well until combined. Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Make the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until combined.

  2. 8

    Add Cream and Vanilla

Pour in the heavy cream and vanilla extract, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy. Adjust the consistency with more cream or powdered sugar if needed.

  3. 9

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
