Method
Cooking the Rice
- 1
Prepare the Rice
Rinse the long-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- 2
Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- 3
Simmer the Rice
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- 4
Cooking the Hotlinks
- 5
Prepare the Hotlinks
While the rice is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
- 6
Add Seasonings
Once the oil is hot, sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let the spices infuse the oil for about 1 minute.
- 7
Cook the Hotlinks
Add the smoked hotlinks to the skillet and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are evenly browned and heated through.
- 8
Serve Hotlinks
Remove the skillet from heat and set aside. Optionally, garnish with chopped green onions and serve with hot sauce on the side.
