In a mixing bowl, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar is completely dissolved.

For vanilla ice cream, proceed to the next step. For chocolate ice cream, add cocoa powder to the mixture and whisk until fully combined. For strawberry ice cream, blend the strawberries into a puree and mix into the base until well incorporated.
Churning

Churn the Mixture
Pour the ice cream mixture into an ice cream maker. Churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, typically for about 20-25 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and has a soft-serve consistency.
Freezing

Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container. Cover it tightly and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
