Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the yogurt, activated yeast mixture, and oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- 6
- 7
Add Garlic and Ginger
Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 8
Add Minced Meat
Add the minced meat to the pan. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- 9
Season the Filling
Add green chili, garam masala, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
- 10
Finish the Filling
Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro. Let the filling cool before using.
Assembling and Cooking
- 11
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to its highest setting (around 475°F or 245°C) and place a baking stone or tray inside to heat up.
- 12
Divide the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal portions.
- 13
Roll Out the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, take one portion of the dough and roll it out into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.
- 14
Add the Filling
Place 2-3 tablespoons of the cooled filling in the center of the rolled-out dough. Fold the edges over the filling, pinching them to seal.
- 15
Roll Again
Carefully roll the stuffed dough ball again to flatten it gently, ensuring the filling remains inside.
- 16
Bake the Naan
Place the naan on the preheated baking stone or tray. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until puffed and lightly browned.
