Preparation

1. Prepare the Chicken

If using a whole chicken, rinse it under cold water and remove any giblets. If using pieces, ensure they are evenly cut.

2. Chop the Vegetables

Chop the carrots, celery, and onion into small pieces. Mince the garlic cloves.

Cooking

3. Combine Ingredients in Pot

In a large stockpot, add the chicken, chopped carrots, celery, onion, minced garlic, chicken broth, bay leaves, black pepper, salt, thyme, and parsley.

4. Bring to a Boil

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.

5. Simmer the Soup

Let the soup simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

6. Remove Chicken
