Method

Prepare the Dough

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth dough forms. Do not overmix.

  4. 4

    Chill the Dough

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.

Fry the Donuts

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep pot or heavy frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Shape the Donuts

Using a piping bag fitted with a large star tip, fill the bag with the chilled dough. Pipe donuts directly into the hot oil, using scissors to cut the dough off at the desired length.

  3. 7

    Fry the Donuts

Fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to turn them as needed.

  4. 8

    Drain and Coat

Once fried, remove the donuts from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. In a shallow bowl, mix 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of cinnamon, then roll the warm donuts in the mixture to coat.
