Fried Cheese Curds

Marinara Sauce

Method

Fried Cheese Curds

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The batter will be thick.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Cheese Curds

Dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully lower the battered cheese curds into the hot oil, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried cheese curds from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 8

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 9

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 10

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 11

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Remove from heat and keep warm until ready to serve.
