Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Meatball Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Cooking the Meatballs

  1. 3

    Brown the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and brown them on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Tomato Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onions and Garlic

In the same skillet, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add diced onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine and bring to a simmer.

Combine and Simmer

  1. 6

    Add Meatballs to Sauce

Carefully add the browned meatballs into the simmering tomato sauce. Cover and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate and Garnish

Serve the meatballs hot, topped with coarse grated cheese. Enjoy with pasta, crusty bread, or on their own!
