Method
For the Ribeye Steak
- 1
Prepare the Steak
Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before grilling. This helps them cook evenly.
- 2
Season the Steak
In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub this mixture generously over both sides of the ribeye steaks.
- 3
Grill the Steak
Preheat the grill to high heat. Place the seasoned ribeye steaks on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy; medium-rare is about 135°F (57°C).
- 4
Rest the Steak
Once cooked, remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.
For the Mashed Potatoes
- 5
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and cut the potatoes into uniform chunks. This ensures they cook evenly.
- 6
- 7
Mash the Potatoes
Drain the boiled potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash until smooth and creamy.
- 8
Serve
Spoon the mashed potatoes onto plates and serve alongside the grilled ribeye steaks.
