Mozzarella Sticks
Marinara Sauce
Method
Preparing the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Setup for Breading
Begin by setting up a breading station. Place flour in one shallow bowl, beaten eggs in another, and bread crumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
- 2
Coating the Cheese Sticks
Take each mozzarella stick and coat it in flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, ensuring it's fully coated, then roll it in the seasoned bread crumbs until fully covered.
- 3
Chilling the Sticks
Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps the cheese maintain its shape while frying.
Frying the Mozzarella Sticks
- 4
Heating the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test this by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; if it sizzles, it's ready.
- 5
Frying the Sticks
Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
