Method

Prepare the BBQ Sauce

  1. 1

    Make the Bourbon BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the Jim Beam bourbon, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Cook the Bacon

  1. 2

    Fry the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 3

    Form and Season the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.

  2. 4

    Grill the Patties

Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Grill the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. In the last minute, place two slices of cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Layer the Burger

Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes. On the bottom bun, place one cheeseburger patty, then a generous amount of pulled pork, followed by two crispy bacon strips. Top with the second cheeseburger patty and drizzle with the homemade BBQ sauce.

  2. 6

    Finish the Burger

Add pickles and onions if desired, then place the top bun on the burger. Secure with a skewer if needed.
