Preparation of Fries
- 1
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin strips or wedges, ensuring they are of even thickness for uniform cooking.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This will help them become crispy when fried.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the soaked potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt while hot.
