Method

Burger Patty Preparation

1

Prepare the Patty

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.

2

Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick.

Cooking the Burger

3

Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

4

Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.

5

Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid to help melt the cheese.

Assembling the Cheeseburger

6

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.

7

Build the Burger

Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
