Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil the Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Making the Chili
- 2
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced red bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Cook the Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- 4
Add the Beans and Tomatoes
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes and kidney beans. Mix well.
- 5
Season the Chili
Add chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
Assembling the Dish
- 6
Combine and Serve
In a serving bowl, layer the cooked spaghetti and generously spoon the chili over the top. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and serve hot.
