Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients: American cheese, Texas toast, and butter.

Butter the Toast
Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each slice of Texas toast.

Add the Second Slice
Top the cheese with the second slice of Texas toast, butter-side up.

Grill the Sandwich
Cook the sandwich for 2-3 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.

Cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until it is golden brown and the cheese is melted. If necessary, cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt.
Serving

Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute. Cut in half if desired and serve warm.
