Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patty

Finely chop the onion and mix it with ground beef, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Form into 4 equal patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burger Patty

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Chili Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Chili

In a large pot, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper, sauté until softened.

  2. 5

    Brown the Meat

Add 1 pound of ground beef to the pot, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  3. 6

    Add Seasonings

Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional minute.

  4. 7

    Add Sauce and Beans

Pour in tomato sauce and add kidney beans. Stir well and let simmer for 20-25 minutes to thicken.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly if desired. Spread mustard on the bottom half of each bun.

  2. 9

    Assemble the Burger

Place the cheeseburger patty on the bun, then generously spoon the homemade chili over the top.

  3. 10

    Add Pickles

Top with pickles as desired and cover with the top half of the bun.
