Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Prepare the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Spaghetti

Add 8 oz of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Making the Chili

  1. 4

    Brown the Beef

In a large skillet or pot, add 1 lb of ground beef over medium heat. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Aromatics

Add 1 cup of chopped onion and 2 tablespoons of minced garlic to the beef. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 6

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in 1 can of diced tomatoes, 1 can of red kidney beans, 2 tablespoons of chili powder, 1 tablespoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 cup of water.

  4. 7

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Combine Pasta and Chili

In a large serving bowl, layer the drained spaghetti and top it generously with the chili mixture.

  2. 9

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and 0.5 cup of chopped green onions on top of the chili.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your delicious 3-Way dish!
