Main Ingredients

Burger Toppings (optional)

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ground Beef

Place the ground beef in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle the salt and black pepper over the beef.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

Using your hands, gently mix the salt and pepper into the ground beef until evenly distributed. Be careful not to overwork the meat.

  3. 3

    Form the Patty

Shape the seasoned ground beef into a patty that is about 1/2 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of the patty to help it cook evenly.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Heat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 5

    Cook the Patty

Place the patty on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned and then flip.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese (if using)

If adding cheese, place the slice of cheddar on top of the patty after flipping and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Bun

While the patty is cooking, slice the burger bun in half and toast it lightly if desired.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Burger

Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun. Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and any other desired toppings. Finish with ketchup and mustard to taste.

  3. 9

    Serve

Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger and serve immediately.
