Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.

  2. 2

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.

  5. 5

Drain the noodles and lay them out flat on a clean surface to prevent sticking.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until smooth.

  7. 7

    Assemble the Lasagna

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce at the bottom.

  8. 8

Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese, then a layer of meat sauce.

  9. 9

Repeat the layering process: noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese, and meat sauce.

  10. 10

Top with the final layer of noodles, remaining meat sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

  11. 11

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

  12. 12

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  13. 13

Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
