Method

Waffle Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

  4. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  5. 5

    Cook Waffles

Grease the waffle iron lightly with cooking spray or a little melted butter. Pour enough batter into the preheated waffle iron to just cover the waffle grid. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy, usually about 5-7 minutes.

Serving

  1. 6

    Prepare Toppings

While the waffles are cooking, rinse and prepare your local berries by slicing larger ones, if necessary.

  2. 7

    Serve

Once the waffles are done, remove them from the waffle iron and serve immediately topped with local berries and a drizzle of maple syrup.
