Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tomatoes

Wash the Roma tomatoes thoroughly under running water. Remove the stems and chop them into small dice, ensuring they are uniform for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and finely mince them using a knife or a garlic press. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Wash and Prepare Basil

Rinse the fresh basil leaves under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry gently with a towel and roughly chop them.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant but not browned.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes

Add the chopped Roma tomatoes to the skillet with the garlic. Stir to combine and cook for 5-7 minutes, allowing the tomatoes to soften and release their juices.

  3. 6

    Incorporate Basil

Once the tomatoes have softened, add the chopped fresh basil leaves to the skillet. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  4. 7

    Season and Serve

Season the tomato and basil mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm as a topping for crusty bread, pasta, or as a fresh side dish.
