Dressing Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Liquid Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, and water until fully combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

Assembly

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the bowl with the liquid ingredients, whisking continuously to prevent clumps from forming.

  2. 4

    Taste and Adjust Seasoning

Taste the dressing and adjust seasoning as desired, adding more salt, pepper, or sugar if needed. If you prefer a spicy kick, stir in the crushed red pepper flakes.

  3. 5

    Add Optional Parmesan

If using, add the grated Parmesan cheese to the mixture and whisk until well combined.

Storage

  1. 6

    Transfer to Storage Container

Pour the dressing into a pint or quart jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

  2. 7

    Shake Before Use

Before serving, shake or stir the dressing to recombine any separated ingredients.
