Preheat the Oven

Cook the Lasagna Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Meat Sauce
- 3
Brown the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.
- 4
- 5
Combine Sauce Ingredients
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Ricotta Filling
- 6
Mix the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, and salt. Mix until well combined.
Assembling the Lasagna
- 7
Layering
In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta filling over the noodles, then add a layer of meat sauce.
- 8
Repeat Layers
Repeat the layering process: noodles, ricotta filling, meat sauce. Repeat this process until you have 5 layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.
- 9
Add Mozzarella
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top layer of meat sauce.
Baking
- 10
Cover and Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- 11

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 12
Rest Before Serving
Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
