- 2
- 3
Mix in Baking Powder and Flour
Transfer the chickpea mixture to a bowl, add baking powder and all-purpose flour. Mix well to combine. The mixture should hold together when formed into a ball, but it should not be too wet.
- 4
Chill Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up the mixture.
Frying
- 5
Heat Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Form Falafel Balls
Using your hands or a small ice cream scoop, form the chickpea mixture into small balls or patties, about the size of a golf ball.
- 7
Fry Falafel
Carefully drop the falafel balls into the hot oil, working in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- 8
Drain and Serve
Remove the falafel from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with tahini sauce or in pita bread with vegetables.
