Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Mushroom Sauté

In the same skillet, add chopped oyster mushrooms and sauté for 2-3 minutes until tender.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

Place a slice of Gouda cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Caramelized Onion Preparation

  1. 5

    Slice the Onion

    Thinly slice the onion.

  2. 6

    Cook the Onion

In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the onion and sugar, cooking until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

Potato Salad Preparation

  1. 7

    Boil the Potatoes

Boil potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let cool.

  2. 8

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the diced potatoes, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped celery, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of the bun, place the burger patty with melted cheese, followed by sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions. Top with the other half of the bun.

  2. 10

    Serve with Potato Salad

Serve the burger alongside a generous portion of Poplar Bluff potato salad.
