Method

Preparing the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong coffee and allow it to cool slightly. If desired, mix in coffee liqueur.

Making the Mascarpone Cream

  1. 2

    Prepare Egg Yolks

In a medium bowl, whisk together the 4 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of sugar until the mixture is thick and pale.

  2. 3

    Combine with Mascarpone

In a separate bowl, gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

  3. 4

    Whip the Cream

In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.

  4. 5

    Combine Cream and Mascarpone

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined, being careful not to deflate the cream.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Soak Ladyfingers

Dip each ladyfinger quickly into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.

  3. 8

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the process with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone cream.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 9

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

  2. 10

    Serve with Topping

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.
