Bruschetta Base

Tomato Topping

Method

Preparation of the Tomato Topping

  1. 1

    Chop Tomatoes and Basil

Dice the fresh tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a mixing bowl. Chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl.

  2. 2

    Season the Mixture

Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the tomato and basil mixture. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.

Preparation of the Bruschetta Base

  1. 3

    Slice the Baguette

Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices on a diagonal to create larger surface area for toppings.

  2. 4

    Toast the Bread

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush both sides with olive oil, and bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy.

  3. 5

    Rub with Garlic

Remove the toasted baguette from the oven and while still warm, rub one side of each slice with a garlic clove to impart flavor.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Top the Bread

Spoon the tomato and basil mixture generously onto the toasted side of each baguette slice.

  2. 7

    Serve Immediately

Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately for best taste.
