Method

O-Rings

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the large yellow onions and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs and milk together in the second bowl, and place the panko breadcrumbs mixed with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the O-Rings

Take each onion ring, coat it in flour, dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it with the panko breadcrumbs. Ensure each ring is evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil for Frying

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature for frying.

  5. 5

    Fry the O-Rings

Carefully add the breaded onion rings to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried onion rings with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Dipping Sauces

  1. 7

    Prepare the Dipping Sauce

In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, lemon juice, and garlic powder until well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
