Cook the Pasta
In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the gemelli pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Cream Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in the parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, and cook until the sauce thickens slightly.

Cook the Shrimp
In a skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium-high heat. Season shrimp with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat.

Combine and Serve
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked gemelli pasta, parmesan cream sauce, and seared shrimp. Toss until well coated. Serve immediately, garnished with additional parmesan cheese and cherry tomatoes if desired.
