Ice Cream Base
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Vanilla Ice Cream Base
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved. This will create your vanilla ice cream base.
- 2
Make the Chocolate Ice Cream Base
In a separate mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until smooth and the sugar is dissolved. Add chocolate chips and mix well.
- 3
Chill the Bases
Cover both bowls with plastic wrap and place them in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until well chilled.
- 4
Churn the Ice Cream
Once chilled, pour the vanilla mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. Repeat the same for the chocolate mixture.
- 5
Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the churned vanilla ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm. Repeat for the chocolate ice cream.
- 6
Serve
Scoop the chocolate and vanilla ice cream into bowls or cones and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate and vanilla ice cream!
