Burger Patty Preparation

Mix the Beef
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

Form the Patties
Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and form each into a half-pound patty, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patties
In the same skillet, cook the burger patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach the desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

While the patties are cooking, toast the Texas toast in the skillet until golden brown on both sides.
