Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

Add Salt
Once the water is boiling, add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water to enhance flavor.

Cook Spaghetti
Add 200 grams of spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making the Marinara Sauce

Sauté Garlic
Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the oil and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn.

Add Tomatoes and Spices
Stir in 400 grams of canned crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, 0.25 teaspoons of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar.

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
