Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a half-pound patty, about ¾ inch thick.

Cook the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on top. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patty reaches your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bun

Toast the burger bun lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by a leaf of lettuce and a slice of tomato. Finish with the top half of the bun.
