- 1
Prepare the Battering
In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add cold water while whisking until you achieve a smooth batter.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a deep pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Batter the Cod
Dip each cod fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 4
Fry the Cod
Carefully place the battered cod fillets in the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
French Fries
- 5
Prepare the Potatoes
Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips for frying.
- 6
Soak the Fries
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 7
Heat the Oil
In a separate deep pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 8
Fry the Fries
Drain and pat the fries dry, then fry them in batches for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste.
Coleslaw
- 9
Prepare the Vegetables
Finely shred the green cabbage and grate the carrot.
- 10
Mix the Dressing
In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 11
Combine the Coleslaw
Add the shredded cabbage and carrot to the dressing. Toss everything together until the vegetables are well coated.
- 12
Chill
Cover and refrigerate the coleslaw for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
