Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped fresh parsley, beaten egg, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a tray or plate.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.

Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onion and Garlic

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté diced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Combine Meatballs with Sauce

Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Spaghetti

  1. 7

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of salted water to a boil.

  2. 8

    Cook the Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 9-11 minutes.

  3. 9

    Drain the Spaghetti

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot. You can add a splash of olive oil to prevent sticking, if desired.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Serve the Dish

Place a serving of spaghetti on a plate, top with the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired.
