Pasta

Cook the spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain and season
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and toss it with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- 4
Form the meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Arrange them on a baking sheet.
- 5
Cook the meatballs
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a bit of olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.

Prepare the sauce
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine and let simmer for 10 minutes.
