Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Slice the tender strips of steak into thin strips. Peel and slice the onion into thin half-moons. Chop the scallions into 1-inch pieces.

  2. 2

    Make the Mongolian Spice Mix

In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, black pepper, and red chili flakes. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Stir-Fry the Steak

In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the steak strips in a single layer and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set it aside.

  2. 4

    Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of sesame oil. Add the sliced onion and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they start to become translucent.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the onions. Pour the Mongolian spice mix over the mixture and stir well to coat. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

  4. 6

    Add Scallions

Add the chopped scallions and stir-fry for another minute until they are tender but still crisp.

  5. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the stir-fry before serving. Serve hot over rice or noodles if desired.
