Preparation of Steak

Marinate the Steak
In a bowl, combine the tender steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the steak evenly. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Prepare the Black Wood Mushrooms
If using dried black wood mushrooms, soak them in warm water for about 30 minutes until softened. Drain and slice them thinly.
Cooking the Mushrooms

Sauté the Garlic and Ginger
In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the Sauce
Pour in the Dou-Ban sauce, rice wine, sugar, and broth. Stir everything together and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Garnish and Serve
Drizzle sesame oil over the dish, and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
