Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, and eggs, and whisk until the mixture is smooth. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Flavor Add-ins

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 6

    Prepare Baking Pan

Grease and flour a baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

  2. 7

    Pour Mixture

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

  3. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. 9

    Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 10

    Add Toppings

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh fruit if desired.

  2. 11

    Slice and Serve
