Onion Rings
Horseradish Dipping Sauce
Method
Onion Rings Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring they are evenly coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully lower the battered onion rings into the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Use a slotted spoon to remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
Horseradish Dipping Sauce Preparation
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine the prepared horseradish, sour cream, mayonnaise, and lemon juice.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Add salt and black pepper to taste, mixing until well combined.
- 9
Chill and Serve
Cover the sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
