Preparation of Ingredients
- 1
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 2
Season the Meat
Stir in the taco seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add a splash of water if needed, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until meat is well coated with seasoning.
- 3
Prepare the Rice and Beans
In a separate pot, heat the cooked rice and black beans until warm. Stir together and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Assembling the Burrito
- 4
Warm the Tortilla
In a dry skillet or microwave, warm the flour tortillas until pliable, about 10-15 seconds in the microwave or 30 seconds on each side in a skillet.
- 5
Fill the Tortilla
Place a warm tortilla on a flat surface. Spoon 1/2 cup of the rice and bean mixture in the center, followed by 1/4 of the cooked meat, and top with shredded cheese and sour cream.
- 6
Add Toppings
If desired, add toppings such as lettuce, diced tomatoes, avocado slices, and salsa.
- 7
Wrap the Burrito
Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it up from the bottom to the top to enclose the filling completely.
Cooking
- 8
Toast the Burrito
If desired, return the wrapped burrito to the skillet and toast on each side for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
