Prepare the Coffee Mixture

Brew the Espresso
Brew 1 cup of espresso coffee and allow it to cool slightly.

Mix in Liqueur and Sugar
In a shallow bowl, combine the brewed espresso, coffee liqueur, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

Whip the Egg Yolks
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks with 3/4 cup granulated sugar until thick and pale, about 5 minutes.

Add Mascarpone and Vanilla
Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture. Mix gently until smooth.

Whip the Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Fold in Whipped Cream
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
Assemble the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Ingredients
In a 9x9 inch serving dish, create a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Chill the Dessert
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings, if desired.
