Pasta Preparation

Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 2
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Add the canned diced tomatoes (with juices), chopped fresh basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the garlic. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- 4
Simmer the Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.
Topping Preparation
- 5
Cook the Sausage
In a separate skillet, cook the sliced spicy sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
- 6
Combine Toppings
Add the cooked sausage and chopped green onions to the marinara sauce and stir to combine. Allow to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors.
