Prepare Chashu Pork

    Browning the Pork

    In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the pork belly on all sides until browned.

    Simmering

    Add soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, ginger, and green onions to the skillet. Bring to a simmer.

    Cooking

    Cover and cook on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours, turning the pork occasionally until tender.

    Cooling and Slicing

    Remove the pork from the liquid and let it cool. Once cooled, slice into thin pieces.

Assemble Donburi

    Preparing Rice Bowl

    Place cooked rice in a bowl, top with sliced chashu pork, a soft-boiled egg, and nori.

    Garnishing

    Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the top before serving.
